NORIA ESMERALDA WASHED GEISHA

Welcome to the extraordinary world of Panama Noria Esmeralda Washed Geisha coffee. Prepare to embark on a sensory journey like no other as you indulge in the exquisite flavors of jasmine, orange, and sugarcane.

Gesha was rediscovered in 2004 in Jaramillo’s unique microclimate. With cool temperatures and massive shade trees that have been standing for ages, the perfumed jasmine and stone fruit notes in the geishas from this area are unique, bright, and kaleidoscopic. To this day many of our top-performing microlots come from little patches on the slopes of Jaramillo. They plant Catuai in the lower areas of the farm.

In the washed process, workers take the harvested coffee to a receiving tank, where they pump water to push it down a funnel. They discard unripe “floaters.” After passing through the receiving tank, the remaining cherries have their skin and pulp mechanically separated by a machine.

They collect the skin and pulp to use as fertilizer for the farms and pastures. The coffee now consists of the bean surrounded by a layer of parchment (or pergamino) and covered in sticky mucilage. The coffee then goes into a mechanical degumming machine, which wipes away the slime. Then, place the wet coffee in another set of storage tanks, ready to take it out to dry in the morning.
