This coffee opens up a lot more when it comes to the peak - around 3 weeks after roasted.
Abu Coffee was named to honor the memory of José Guillermo Luttrell Tedman, a third generation coffee producer from the Cañas Verdes region of Boquete, Chiriquí in Panama.
"ABU" (short for Abuelo, grandfather in Spanish) is what his grandchildren used to call him. His dream was to achieve the best cup of coffee with the highest standards of quality. Abu Coffee continues to live this dream by producing some of the most incredible and unique coffees available not only in Panama, but globally.
Abu Coffee is a regular in the legendary Best of Panama competitions:
- 2020 BOP: 11th in Natural Geisha (91.75)
- 2019 BOP: 8th in Washed Geisha (92.00), 12th in Natural Geisha (91.25)
- 2018 BOP: 12th in Natural Geisha (90.50), 15th in Washed Geisha (90.25)
- 2017 BOP: 6th in Washed Geisha (score: 91.25)
This special lot went through an Anaerobic dry process for 144 hours and then was sun-dried on raised beds for 30 days. This is the same fermentation time as the lot GN-36, but with an additional mosto processing that was specially implemented for Rogue Wave this year.
